Textbook Policy:  Each student will be issued a textbook.  These textbooks will be used for many years, so please do not write in or on them.    Any marks found in them will be charged to you at the end of the year.  Books are to be covered by Tuesday (9/2) at the very latest and are to remain covered for the entire length of this course.  Please handle your book with care in class, the hallway, locker, and at home.  You are expected to bring your book with you to class every-day, unless told not to before hand.

Grading Scale:  The grading scale is the same as the school’s A (93-100), B (85-92), C (77-84), D (70-76), and F (0-69).  Your grade is accumulated from Daily Homework, Chapter Quizzes, Chapter portfolios, and Chapter tests.

Assignment Policy:  You will be given homework almost everyday in Algebra.   Any work that you do not finish in class, you will need to have completed by the assigned due date.  All late homework must be done before the end of the week that it was assigned; otherwise it will not be accepted.

Absentee and Tardy Policy:  You will be responsible for your assignment whether you are in school or not.  If you know you are going to be absent from school ahead of time, it is to your benefit to do your assignment before leaving.  If you are sick from school you can e-mail me to get your assignment or you will have 2 days after your return to complete the assignment.

Tardy means not being in your assigned seat when the second bell rings and will result in (1) warning and (2) a demerit.  Being excessively tardy will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Classroom Rules:

1)      All work needs to be done in pencil, unless otherwise told.  This includes homework, quizzes, and tests.  This is a rule for neatness and so the work is readable.

2)      Bring all classroom materials with you everyday to class.   This includes textbook, notebook, calculator, and pencils. You will not be allowed to return to your locker after the 2nd bell rings!!

3)      Always have respect for others in the classroom.  This means to be respectful and courteous towards the teacher and to the other students in the classroom.  Always raise your hand to ask questions, or to leave your seat.  When working in groups keep discussions to a noise level where you are not distracting other groups.

4)      There is no such thing as a stupid question.  If you need clarification on a topic or an assignment please ask!!!   I am here for you to ask questions and I want you to succeed in this class.   I will be available at 7:55 am in room 108, and during my off periods somewhere around the school to answer questions.   Also, I can be available if you come and see me and set up a time.

5)      I HAVE NO TOLERENCE FOR CHEATERS!  This applies to homework, quizzes, and tests!  You will not do well in my class without doing your homework.  This is a very important part of learning how to solve problems and also learning responsibility, I expect you to try every problem I assign!!
