PIUS X Booster Club Minutes
January 29, 2007

Members Present: Father Morin, Scott Fitzgerald, Duane and Mary Hugo, John and Melinda Reinert, John Grosserode, George O’Boyle, Ron and Claire Schinkle, Greg Gibney, Leighton and Julie Larson, Lauren and Cathy Kanost, MaryBeth McWilliams and Barry Johnson.

The meeting was opened with a prayer.
December minutes were approved.

FINANCE: Mary Hugo reports a balance of $113,407.00
Checking remained even as we had $5K in receipts. (Including $550 for student passes).
Expenditures were $5K including new uniforms and $120 for Jim Hansen’s book.

MEMBERSHIP: MaryBeth reported that mailings went out to those who had not signed up as of yet. We had 15 new signees and all were included in the sports program. That brings our total to 287. (10 Gold, 75 Green and 202 White). Kanosts reported no change in LCD ads. 22 Activity Passes were sold and they are still available at the school office. A punch card for students only was suggested (10 for $25). The Larsons agreed to take on that project. We will strongly pursue sign ups at the New Student Orientation. Barry volunteered to work February 12th at the Membership Table.

COMMUNITY BUILDING: The Thunderbolt Scramble Committee’s next meeting is 2/15. Brochures should be ready by then and work is taking place on getting a list of sponsors. Barry reported that the Cookout is scheduled for August 4 at 5:00. Information will be sent out in the future. The Booster Club executive committee and the coaches will be invited. George reported that the track meet with SE High School is scheduled for March 20th. George’s Nacho sales at Pius was discussed due to city sanitary violation codes.

CONCESSIONS: Pizza is going over very well on Friday events. John Reinert volunteered to look over the plan for being in the new facility next year.

MERCHANDISE SALES: Loren Kanost reported there were some 50th anniversary items left over, so we agreed to increase give-aways at events. Also mentioned was having a table at Freshman orientation. We plan to take stadium chairs to the Baseball, Softball, Track and Soccer meetings to see if we can drive interest. We also agreed that during Catholic Schools week we could give 50th anniversary key chains to the faculty. Loren will visit with Father about uniform and Booster Club storage.

PROJECTS UPDATE and COST: Scott reported that he talked with Tim about the baseball building, sinking tennis courts and locker room improvements. No commitments were made. George reported that we bought our own wrestling mat instead of getting one from the state meet. Costs will be $7-8K, including freight, and will be received next fall. He also mentioned redoing the gym floors at a cost of $4950.00. He is checking contracts as we agreed that our preference is to use Hart instead of Trotter. We will also add the floors to our maintenance program.

NEW BUSINESS: Father discussed the possible need for the Booster Club to contribute to the concession stand in the new facility or the possibility of getting a loan from the diocese. Also discussed was continued advertising in the Star City Sports paper, and a new flag in the gym. Please bring new ideas to the meeting so we can get more involved.

OLD BUSINESS: Grandmother’s fund raiser brought in $800 to $900 thus far and we have grossed $173. John G will take care of sending flowers to the Rice and Kopf families on behalf of the Booster Club. $50 will be reimbursed to John. Scott reminded everyone to expand our committees by asking for other members to help.

Meeting was closed with a prayer.
The next meeting is March 19, 2007.

Respectfully submitted,
Greg Gibney
