George O'Boyle was born in Bronx, N.Y. on Dec. 18, 1940. In 1961, he
came to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a track scholarship and
ran
for
the legendary Nebraska coach, Frank Sevigne. Upon graduation in 1965,
his first teaching position was at Ann J. Kellogg School in Battle Creek,
Mich. He came back to Lincoln and joined Pius X in 1967 and started the
cross country program at our school 1968. He took over for legendary
athletic director, Vince Aldrich in 1985 and has been in the position
ever since.
George has been at Pius X for almost 40 years now. In 2000, he received
the National Cross Country Coach of the Year Award. Some of his other
coaching achievements include, a boys’ state track championship
and two state runner-up titles, a girls’ state track championship
and state runner up title, 10 boys’ state cross country championships
and one state runner-up title and seven girls’ cross country
state championships and three state runner-up titles.
George and his wife, Linda, who is from Minden, Neb, have been married
since 1965. They have two children, Jenny Seifert and Kevin O’Boyle,
who graduated from Pius X in 1987 and 1990.
