Welcome to the Pius X Trap Club website.

Pius X is in the Central Division of the Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC). We will have six regular meets plus a combined conference shoot the weekend prior to the Cornhusker Invitational at Doniphan, NE.  Competitions are held on Saturday and are generally an all day event for Senior High students and a half day event for Junior High students. Seniors will shoot 100 targets and juniors will shoot 50 targets.  The Combined Conference Shoot will allow for Conferences awards to be presented there rather than at Doniphan.  It is targeted as a fun shoot with shooters matched up with others of similar shooting ability. Senior shooters will only shoot from a handicap distance.  It is a great chance to win an award.  The Cornhusker Invitational is a three-day event with the juniors shooting 100 targets on Thursday and the seniors shooting 100 targets on Friday and 100 targets on Saturday.  To be eligible to participate in the Cornhusker Invitational each member must:

-have participated in 5 of the 6 conference meets
-have sold all of the original allocation of raffle tickets
-had no safety or team rule violations
-have no pending school disciplinary or academic actions

Students are responsible for all fees and costs associated with practice and competition in ECTC meets. The Pius X Trap Club attempts to pay the cost at the Cornhusker Invitational.

-Practice fees will be $3.00 per 25 targets.
-
Competition fees are estimated to be $9.00 for juniors and $18.00 for senior high.
-Ammunition is an additional expense.
-Forms will be handled out so payments can be placed into envelopes, submitted to a coach and processed at home.  This will reduce confusion at practice.
-Dave Tunink will be keeping track of practice rounds and conference fees that will be charged to a specific shooter and this information will be forwarded to Ann Lafler who will keep track of each shooters account.
-It is important that each shooter keep sufficient money in their account in order to cover their expenses.  At the end of the season, if shooters have a credit in their account they will either be reimbursed or it will be carried over to the next season.

Shooters will also be responsible of informing either Dave Tunic or Kit Hams of their intention of shooting at an upcoming meet at the Tuesday practice prior to that shoot.  A sign-up sheet will be in the club house for shooters to sign to indicate that they will be participating.  Those shooters not squadded by Thursday’s practice, but still wants to shoot at the meet, will be squadded as an individual the day of the meet. Dave Tunink will be recording shooter’s practice and meet scores that will be used in assigning squads.

You will need to furnish your own equipmen. Shotgun, ear protection, and eye protection are required.  Shooting vests or shell holders, caps and shooting gloves are also recommended.  Most students use a 12 gauge shotgun, but Junior shoots 20 gauge shotgun’s will work.  The maximum load allowed is 1-1/8 ounce of # 7-1/2 or # 8 shot.  It is recommended that Junior shooters use light trap loads (1 ounce).  This will result in less recoil.

Parents are needed to assist in running practice and in supervising the team at conference meets. The Trap Club hosts the kitchen operation at the Ikes during the conference meets scheduled for March 24th and April 21nd unless one of the other clubs that use Ikes for practice want to run the kitchen.  We must have parents help with this operation.  Proceeds from this activity help pay for some of the expenses at the State shoot along with club awards.  Also we assist in running the shoot by operating assigned trap houses.

Attention Parents: The Pius Trap Club is only as good as its members so we need your help with various club activities. Please consider getting involved. Lisa Borzekofski is in charge of the operation of the kitchen and will be contacting parents for help.

We raffle off a shotgun each year and the proceeds are used to help pay some of the costs at Doniphan. Each senior high and junior high club member is expected to sell their entire allotment of raffle tickets.  Members are encouraged to sell raffle tickets at the meets especially those hosted at Ikes.  Top sellers will be rewarded at the end of the season party.  Do not sell tickets at school. Cindy Wiebeck will be handling the gun raffle.

Students must have completed Hunter Safety Training Program in order to compete. Please direct any questions about Hunter Safety Training to Michael Streeter, Hunter Safety Training Coordinator, at game and parks Commission (402) 471-6133 or you can check here for available classes.

Students must have parent/guardian permission to join the club. The Shooter Registration form, Range Rules agreement, and the Release and Consent form must be completed and returned before the club member can begin to practice. These forms will be available at all club meetings as well as here on the website. Ann Lafler will be collecting these forms and will create a shooter database. An email database will be used to disperse information on a regular basis. Ann Lafler will also be the contact person for rooms at the state shoot.
