Making the rockets just the launching pad for physics project

Creating a paper rocket is just the initial launch of this assignment.

These rockets form the basis for follow-up analysis by students after their launch. These students are in Advanced Placement (AP) Physics (PACE, which stands for Physics and Applied Calculus for Engineers).

"We're taking a theoretical approach to solving problems and comparing it to results from an actual launch," teacher Jeremy Schefter said.

As students construct the rockets, they focus on creating a structure that will hold together and stay light enough to fly the 25-foot distance to a target. Attention to detail is critical.

In the end, students will create a video analysis of the rocket launch, then graph out results and use equations to demonstrate the real-life results.
