Prayers pour down on Pro Life Day

Steady rain drops and occasional thunder were no match for the strong chorus of prayers on Pro Life Day at Pius X High School. About 100 students from three Catholic high schools came together to pray on Pro Life Day outside of the Planned Parenthood location in Lincoln.

“I thought it was super moving,” senior Rachael Krinke said. “It was so cool to see everybody out here for the same cause, even if it is raining.”

Sr. Maria Meza led a Hail Mary with students, some huddled under umbrellas and some in hoods, all making the choice to pray for life.

Pius X High School students were joined by students from Aquinas Catholic High School in David City and Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo.

“It’s amazing to see all the other schools come, take off a day at school, face the weather, still come out, and pray with us,” junior Hannah Hoge said.

Earlier in the day, guest speaker Savannah Falter spoke to all the students at an all-school assembly at Pius X. She asked students to be open to talking with others, using social media, and more prayer about the issue.

“You have a voice, and you can use that voice,” she said.

A video shown to students highlighted the rising Pro Life trends, specifically among younger adult: more education, fewer abortions, larger movements, and a changing culture on college campuses. After the assembly, Falter further educated students by giving them strategies to use in conversations with others who may disagree.
