Students win local JA business plan pitch competition

Students win local JA business plan pitch competition

Pius X students won a local entrepreneurship event hosted by Junior Achievement of Lincoln.

Collin Bailey, Jesse Adame and Parker Dodson had a business plan for a dog watching/sitting/daycare service at your home.  Their pitch won their section of the competition. Hannah Nguyen, Lisa Nguyen, and Meigan Liska also competed in the pitch competition.

The event is called JA Spark, a one-day workshop for high school students who have a passion for business and entrepreneurship

During this event, students heard from successful local entrepreneurs:

  • Chef Aaron Young, Chefauchef
  • Natasha Plooster, Eat Fit Go
  • Zach Harsin, Pink Gorilla Events
  • Adam Kroft, Red Thread

Each speaker provided tips on the steps for a business plan, and students incorporated those concepts into their own pitch.

Junior Achievement says about 70 students from 10 different schools were in attendance, and that every Catholic school in Lincoln has an active JA program.

More Piux X students will participate in JA's Stock Market Challenge in November.
