Pius X will take part in its first ever robotics competition as part of VEX Robotics next week in Omaha. Here's Frank Egelhoff (North American Martyrs School) to tell us where the team stands. Team sponsor is teacher Brian Swanigan.

So Friday night the captains will go down and we'll do our skills competition, which kind of varies. Like the programmign one is a minute, where the robot goes truly off of the program. See how fast we can score, how many points we can score, there's also a driver competition.

Then Saturday is like the main ... main event, we'll have, you know, a tournament, so we'll go around ... we think we have 3 competitions that we are guaranteed to compete in, and if we do well enough have the championships and semifinals, that sort of stuff.

So basically the idea is that you take the yellow cones, you try and stack as many as you can on top of each other.

We are getting a little nervous. We still have a ways to go to get there and we are running out of time. So we are kind of getting into a grind, but other than that we are really excited for the first time Pius has ever had a robots and first time for all of us to do this. So yeah, we are looking forward to it
