About Us

WHAT IS THE GREEN AND GOLD?

The GREEN AND GOLD is a prayer support group which prays particularly for the spiritual growth of the Pius X High School family: administration, faculty, staff, parents, benefactors, and especially for the Pius X students. The intentions of all GREEN AND GOLD members are included in the day of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament held each First Friday of the month during the school term in the Pius X Chapel.

The colors are significant in meaning. The color green is symbolic of life and hope, while the color gold is symbolic of honor and glory. To the members of the GREEN AND GOLD, green is representative of their prayers which will bring added life and hope to Pius X endeavors, while gold is representative of the sacrifices of fasting and self-denial which turn small human actions into acts of love to the greater honor and glory of God.

Members of the GREEN AND GOLD are asked to pledge support of Pius X family with five minutes of prayer each day.

The following are only suggestions:

1. Asking Mary’s intercession and blessings on Pius X endeavors through the recitation of one decade of the rosary. Mary has promised that what you ask through the rosary, you shall receive.

2. Asking St. Pius X, the patron of our school for the wisdom and courage “to restore all things in Christ.”

3. Asking St. Michael the Archangel for special protection from sin and evil.

4. Offering one small hidden sacrifice each day for a student or teacher who has special needs. For example, giving up a cup of coffee, snack, or TV show, or visiting a shut-in, etc.

5. Making a special visit to the Blessed Sacrament at Pius X or the parish church.

The GREEN AND GOLD has two levels of membership: core members and honorary members: Core members become part of the e-mail prayer support line. Members may e-mail special intentions to Mary Doher at Mary.Doher@experian.com. Core members are also asked to pay initial dues of $5 to cover costs of the received prayer material. This fee is paid only once, no matter how many years one is a member. Honorary members are only asked to pray for teachers and students in general, especially the student body. There are no meetings, no dues, nor any other obligations.

“ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE, SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND, KNOCK AND THE DOOR SHALL BE OPENED TO YOU.”
“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” Alfred Lord Tennyson
