What are you studying (your major/minor), and how do you feel Pius X classes and teachers prepared you for your college work?

I am studying Mechanical Engineering at Mines. I truly feel like my Pius education sets me apart Mines because it taught me to have good time management and form meaningful and lasting relationships with my teachers.

What cool/interesting/awesome projects or activities have you been involved in during college?

At Mines, I have been lucky enough to participate in projects to improve sustainable packaging and learn about the project proposal process. I have also been able to work as a Resident Adviser and form educational programs to help first years at Mines adjust to life outside of high school.

Did Pius X prepare you well to continue to practice your Catholic faith, and if so, what do you do to keep active in your faith?

Pius X definitely helped to instill a stable faith in my life. When I first moved to Colorado, I felt alone without my family and friends. My first mission was to find my campus focus team. Bible study, on campus mass, and women’s nights at the Goretti House made Mines my home. I am always supported even in my lowest moments here at Mines.

What are your future plans for more studies, or for a career path?

My plans, though a little blurry at the moment, are to get as much experience via internships during summers away from school as possible. I enjoyed an internship last summer with Kiewit Construction working at their branch—Continental Fire Sprinkler Design— doing CAD work and designing fire protection systems. As for my next steps, I’d love to try out a job working with the manufacturing process or aviation.
