Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School

Laura (Foley) Golden ’10

What is your current title and organization? Describe what you do.

I’m a stay at home mom to our 3 kids, Ellie (age 5), Harlee (age 3) and Graham (turns 1 next month!) So I’m mostly doing kid activities, laundry and cooking, but during naptime and after bedtime I’m also a Creighton FertilityCare Practitioner so I teach women and couples virtually on zoom how to chart their cycles with the Creighton system!

What is it you love about your work?

I love the ability to stay home with our kids and really love the quality time with them and watching them grow! I also really love meeting people all over the country through my work as a FertilityCare Practitioner and helping couples prepare of marriage, get to the root of hormone issues and help couples struggling with infertility!

What made you decide to write the Catholic Gratitude Journal for Kids?

I’ve been thinking about our family’s morning routine and I was trying to think of something more intentional that my bigger girls could do while eating their breakfast before school! I personally love to drink a cup of coffee and reading the daily gospel and fill out a gratitude journal as a part of my morning routine, and so I was trying to think of a way I could include my kids in that. I want to teach my kids how to have a prayer life and this journal seemed like an age appropriate way that I could help cultivate the virtue of gratitude in my kids! I think we underestimate the spiritual capacity of children and my kids have been enjoying this book already in the mornings!

Will you be creating any more books in the future?Maybe! Figuring out the formatting of making this book was the hardest part, so now that I know what I’m doing I have a couple other ideas! Mostly, I just wanted to make this as a tool for my own kids and so it’s fun to see that other people are enjoying it also!

What hobbies or other activities do you most enjoy?

I love drinking coffee, running and playing volleyball!

What memories stand out to you about your time at Pius X (classes, activities, teachers, etc.)?

I was part of the volleyball program for most of my time at Pius both as a player and student manager, and that was so so fun to be a part of! I also loved helping to make the yearbook and going on adventures with my friends during our senior off-periods!

How does your experience at Pius X impact you today?

I still am friends with many people that went to Pius with me and I am so grateful for the many experiences during highschool like being taught religion class by inspiring priests and TEC retreats that helped to form me in my faith.

Share a little about your family.

My husband Tyler and I live in Warren, MN. Tyler works for his family business Northern Plains Track that distribues Camso tracks. I stay at home with our 3 kids, Ellie, Harlee and Graham. In the summer we spend a lot of time at the lake and we enjoy every chance we get to come back to Nebraska to visit my family!
