Colorado Springs, Colo. – RRT (UC Health)
When my pulmonary rehabilitation clinic closed I opted to stay home and care for my disabled daughter so she would not be exposed to me bringing anything home from the hospital. I did this for about a month and kept feeling the call to help out in the hospital but I was very concerned about getting my family sick. For this reason I decided to travel to New York where I felt the need was greatest. I am currently working in Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Long Island, New York, as a respiratory therapist. The staff and community have been very welcoming and grateful for the help! We have successfully weaned a few patients off the ventilator and they are on the road to recovery. Everyday though there are more people needing care. Please keep these patients and their families in your prayers.
The ‘front lines’ of the COVID-19 pandemic impacted people near and far. Several Pius X alumni have cared for those impacted by the pandemic, some directly and some indirectly. This is just one of the stories of those alumni who were gracious enough to share their stories from April 2020. Please keep these and all workers in your prayers.
