Pius X Catholic High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Grindey (Grin-dee) as the school’s new Head Football Coach.
Grindey brings a strong commitment to student-athlete development, leadership, and excellence both on and off the field. With a passion for football and Catholic education, he is dedicated to building a competitive program rooted in discipline, teamwork, and faith.

“Building on 70 years of tradition established by Coaches Vince Aldrich, Tim Aylward, and Ryan Kearney, Coach Grindey brings a passion and energy that will strengthen our program for years to come. He embodies the mission of Thunderbolt football – to develop young men of character and faith who will lead our Catholic community into the future” said Jeremy Ekeler, Chief Administrative Officer.

It was clear from the beginning that Michael’s leadership, vision, and commitment to developing young men, both on and off the field, align perfectly with our Catholic values. Michael Grindey shared, “It is an absolute blessing and an honor to be at Pius X High School. The rich Catholic tradition that the school is founded on played a key role in my decision to accept this position. The love of Jesus Christ has had a profound impact on my life and coaching football provides an avenue to share this message. I look forward to building relationships with players, parents, and the community. Go Bolts!”
Michael Grindey brings energy and versatility to Pius X, with experience in football operations, player development and strength training. Grindey is a graduate of Brophy College Prep and began his coaching career in his home state of Arizona. Advancing to Concordia University, where he was a two-time All GPAC linebacker, and then to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he worked with Husker football in strength and conditioning. Grindey most recently comes from Benedictine College, where he served as a football graduate assistant while pursuing his Masters in Classical Education. This past season, Benedictine football reached the national semi-finals in the NAIA post-season tournament. His coaching philosophy emphasizes disciplined training, strong technique, and the development of character, academic responsibility, and sportsmanship.
