From the books to the farm

The students in Mrs. Clarie Babl’s English classes toured the Wessel’s Living History Farm in York, Neb., where they experienced life in the 1920s and 1930s with hands-on home and farm activities including interaction with farm animals, cooking on a wood-burning stove, playing period-era board games, typing on a typewriter and exploring farming equipment of the era. The field trip was in connection to three novels covered during the school year – My Antonia by Willa Cather, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
Thunderbolt student-athletes were honored this year for having committed and signed to play a sport in college.
