Letter from parents to Pius X

The Pius X community (teachers, administration, staff, coaches, students and their families) gave our children not only a great education, but also provided an engaging, supportive and faith filled environment where they were encouraged to be themselves, to seek friends who made them  better people and taught how to practice their faith in their everyday lives. We particularly appreciate how Pius, for us, felt like an extension of our home to our children, where the values we hoped to instill, such as kindness, perseverance, and service, were reinforced by positive role models.

Some of the awesome things that our children had the opportunity to be involved with while at Pius were the accelerated classes, clubs and athletics.  The accelerated classes  prepared our children very well for college, and life beyond.  The teachers challenged our children and genuinely cared about their progress.  The expectations were clear and they always had open  lines of communication for us as parents if we had any questions.

Our children were involved in many clubs at Pius, although one of our favorites to hear about was the Lumberjack Club: A group of students who had a passion for flannel, pancakes, and community, took initiative, and began a club. It was short lived, but we loved how the students were allowed to pursue this (maybe silly) idea that allowed them to take charge of an idea and run with it. Our children gained confidence and made genuine friendships through the clubs they participated in during their time at Pius because they were allowed to pursue ideas and passions that were important to them.

All three of our children speak about how grateful they were to have a quiet, safe place to reflect in the Chapel located within the school. This is a unique draw to Pius – this ability to reflect daily and sit with the Lord whenever they have free time. I think this is a big reason why they continue to have a strong faith life after graduating.

“We thank Pius X for giving our children an excellent education, confidence in themselves, opportunities to succeed beyond the classroom, and more importantly, giving them a solid foundation for living out their faith.”

We are especially grateful for the athletic programs at Pius. The coaches’ focus was not only to build athletes, but to build people.  We felt that they genuinely wanted them to succeed on and off the court and encouraged them to give their best in all aspects of life. They taught them how to win humbly, lose respectfully and work hard.  Most of the athletic programs contain projects such as community service or volunteering. For example: the baseball program does ‘Extra-Innings’  which enforces strong values, sacrificing for others and leading a well-rounded life.

We thank Pius X for giving our children an excellent education, confidence in themselves, opportunities to succeed beyond the classroom, and more importantly, giving them a solid foundation for living out their faith.  Thank you for the opportunities for our family to be involved in all aspects of our children’s education.  Thank you for helping us raise our children. We are so proud of Pius and all they have to offer.
