Crunching Numbers … and M&M’s in AP Stats

Students in Brianna Olson’s AP Statistics class are putting probability to the test with a colorful, hands-on investigation using bags of M&M’s.

Exploring the concept of expected versus observed outcomes, students are analyzing whether the distribution of candy colors matches the proportions reported by Mars, the manufacturer.

Through this engaging project, students are applying key AP Statistics concepts such as hypothesis testing, probability, and data analysis.

As a bonus, they also get to enjoy a sweet reward at the end of their work!
