Pius X High School collected the most food in the Food Fight Challenge organized by the Food Bank of Lincoln.
The Pius X Student Council – sponsored by teachers Susan Kelly and Brianna Golka – collected 19,721 pounds of food from students, staff, families, the Pius X community and from area Catholic elementary and junior high schools. This amounts to 13.3 meals raised per Pius X student. In all, the challenge brought in 26,710 pounds of food.
The food will be used to feed the hungry in the Lincoln area. It’s the fourth-straight year Pius X has won the challenge.
From The Food Bank of Lincoln: “We are beyond grateful for your school’s continued commitment to this student-led food & fund drive. Thank you for helping us put food on plates of our hungry neighbors in southeast Nebraska.”
