Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School

A different kind of anticipation

From Terry Kathol, Principal

Most teachers, parents, and students are very aware of the ebb and flow of a school year. Most students come to school the first day of the year with some anticipation for the beginning of the year, as the school routine becomes more consistent this anticipation dwindles. There is also anticipation as the end of the school year nears. This anticipation is much different from what is felt in the fall, the anticipation for the routine of the school year changes to the anticipation for the more relaxed summer days.

Each school year contains many memorable events as well as many that will quickly be forgotten. For each individual these events may be different based on personal experiences. The month of May in a school year has its own unique set of experiences as students and staff prepare for the end of the school year that is quickly approaching. Although students and staff are looking forward to the end of the school year, both realize there is still much to accomplish. Academic and activity goals are still in sight and attainable prior to that last day, keeping a focus on those goals will help students move smoothly to the end of the school year.

The last month of school for senior students, and their parents, is much different than previous years as the final days of high school approach and planning for life after high school becomes the focus. A mix of emotions will surely take place as these students’ senior year is brought to an end, concluding this stage in their lives. They will be leaving the familiarity of high school to embrace new opportunities and set new goals. The academic and faith foundation received at Pius will have prepared them well to take on new challenges and experiences.

I am proud of our Pius students and all they have accomplished this school year. These accomplishments demonstrate their committed work and effort to be successful in the classroom and in their activities. The journey they have been on this year will shape their lives making them the young men and women God has planned them to become. The remaining days of this school year will go by quickly, I challenge our students to finish this year strong and make the most of each day.
