School meals in 2021-22 school year

Pius X Nutrition Services provides various options for breakfast, lunch and snacks on school days. This year, Pius X is part of a federal program that offers free breakfast and lunch to all students. No application is required.

  • To qualify for a free breakfast, students are required to take a grain, fruit, and milk.
  • To qualify for a free lunch, a student must take an entrée, vegetable or fruit, and milk.

If a student does not take each of these items, they will be charged ala carte for each item.

Items beyond the meal listed above are charged at ala carte prices, and can only be purchased through the students meal account (no cash/credit). There are two ways to add money to a student’s account:

1.       Drop off money at the school front office or Foundation office (room 1100). The school front office has a basket to collect checks and cash (in an envelope with student name and ID #). In the Foundation office, ask for Mrs. Beiermann.

2.       Use the MySchoolBucks app to add money to your student’s account. Starting July 29, MySchoolBucks/Heartland Payments will increase its fee to $2.75 per transaction. Users of MySchoolBucks were sent an email from the vendor notifying them of this change on July 15. Parents can also use the app to view past items purchased.

While school meals are free for all students in this upcoming school year, the application for free/reduced meals is needed by the school to assist students in applying for scholarships and other financial aid.

For questions about meals, contact Carmen Goeden, director of Nutrition Services at 402-488-0931 or For questions about meal accounts, contact Pam Beiermann at 402-488-1046 or
