School(s) attended K-8: St. Teresa’s School (K-4) and St. Joseph’s School (5-8)
Favorite place on campus: The place at Pius I have enjoyed the most was the O’Boyle track. The multitude of hours I have spent there for practice, and the people I have met in the process kindled my passion for running. Running has helped me to take things one step at a time and focus on how I can improve in the moment. It is through running that I have found the inspiration to set new goals for myself and it is at the O’Boyle track where I have worked hard to achieve those goals. The runners and the coaches have become my family and the track will always be my home.
Activities at Pius X: Cross country, Track and Field, Campus Ministry, Outdoors Club and Choir (freshman yr)
What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why?
My favorite class in high school was Spanish IV with Maestra Hayes. It was always the highlight of my day! My classmate’s entertaining demeanor and her engaging teaching style always made fifth period something to look forward to. I have been blessed to be apart of such an incredible class and I will miss it tremendously.
How has your faith impacted your education, or how has your education impacted your faith?
To be educated is such a gift. However, to receive an education from the standpoint of the Catholic Church is a tremendous blessing. Pius is the quintessence of this. Everything I have been taught, everything I find myself valuing all leads back to my core identity as a daughter of God. I have teachers, priests and so many people apart of Pius to thank for this knowledge. These individuals paint a picture of the way I can live out my Catholic faith and education in the future then come back to the present to show me how it can become a reality. Life is about finding our purpose, true essence, eternal happiness and the only way to pursue this is through a personal relationship with God. Pius gave me that new direction for renewal in Christ with opportunities such as the sacraments, retreats, theology class, etc. and it has played an immense role in my life. Faith and education go hand in hand. At Pius, it was only a matter of pursing what was offered for me and not taking it for granted.
What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X?
In my time at Pius X am most proud of the friendships I have made. Coming into Pius freshman year was a little nerve wrecking due to the size of the population. However, as the years progressed the campus had gotten smaller and smaller until I soon became familiar with everyone. By senior year my friend group has expanded immensely and they all have shaped me to become a better person! I am going to miss them so much but I am so blessed for the four years I have gotten to know them!
Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study?
After Pius I will be attending school at University of Nebraska Omaha. I will continue to pursue my faith by living and being involved at the JPII dorms. I plan on furthering my education in the pre-nursing program.
