School(s) attended K-8: Cathedral (Kindergarden) St. Joseph (1st- 4th) St. Micahel (5th- 8th)
Favorite place on campus: I Loved being in the chapel. Pius is pretty lucky to have a chapel in the school, which I think some people take for granted. I tried to drop in whenever I could and in talking with God that often, I was able to get through the ups and downs of the school year a bit easier. I have had some of my best holy hours in that chapel and it is one of the most peaceful places I think I will ever know.
Activities at Pius X: I ran cross country my freshman, sophomore, and senior year. Played soccer for three years and ran track for a year. I also did choir for a year.
What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why?
Has to be world history with Mr. Charf. our class was stacked. I was friends with more than half of the class and it was during 5th period so having a study hall with my friends and then starting an interesting class with food in my system made for a great learning environment with some funny and random memories sprinkled in. I love learning about history too so I was pretty engaged throughout the year. I don’t think I’ll forget any of the numerous inside jokes I still have from that class.
How has your faith impacted your education, or how has your education impacted your faith?
praying before classes and allowing God to work in my education has truly been a blessing. being a catholic school is what sets Pius apart. that’s obvious, but what people seem to miss is what happens when you put God first. he takes care of everything, including my education. also, having good catholic teachers really makes asking them for help easier. the teachers understand that we all share the same destination: heaven. however, they also understand that each student is taking a different path to get there.
What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X?
looking back on how much I changed. this was good change that I needed. I came across a picture of me as a freshman the other day and I barely recognized myself. Pius was a great place to learn, and to grow up. I wasn’t exactly the most mature guy in my earlier years at Pius. obviously I’m still working at it but Pius has done a great job letting you be you while also preparing you for life.
Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study?
I will be attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I plan to go into mechanical engineering. engineering runs in the family and I find that particular field of study fascinating.
