Parents: Fred and Melissa Phelan
School(s) attended K-8: Wayne Elementary School (PA) K-3 Saint Michael (NE) 4-8
Favorite place on campus: The library. It’s always such a calm and welcoming environment. When I’ve hard day or just really need to sit down and study for a test. I’d always go to the library. Also, always helped that Mrs. Willis was always welcoming me with a smile.
Activities at Pius X: Varsity Swim&Dive, JV/Varsity Girls Golf, National Honors Society, Ambassadors, Just Dance club, and French club.

What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why?

Advanced Chemistry. Although it’s certainly the most academically rigorous class I have ever taken, it’s also the most fun. Mrs. Zohner has a way of making challenging material seem less daunting. The class taught me so much not only about science but about myself as a person. Advanced chemistry is the only class that can make you laugh until your stomach hurts and cry until you run out of tears in the same 45 minutes!

How has your faith impacted your education, or how has your education impacted your faith?

Faith has been the center of my education at Pius. In addition to receiving tremendous support from my theology teachers and learning the complexities of my faith in the classroom, being a member of community all united under one Faith is very comforting. All the teachers are strong in their Catholic values and this is evident in class. The teachers here really care about their students and their academic success.

What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X?

I am most proud of my academic and athletic accomplishments. As a diver, I was a 2 time HAC (Heartland Athletic Conference) runner-up and the 2020 HAC overall champion. I finished my senior season with a 6th place finish at state! Academically, I am a three time recipient of the “Academic All Conference Award” and a two time recipient of the NSAA “Academic All State” award. I am a member of National Honor Society and a four year honor student.

Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study?

After graduation, I will be attending the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; I will be majoring in psychology with an emphasis in neuroscience. I will be pursing the Pre-Medicine track with hopes of becoming a psychiatrist.
