Why I teach
I became a teacher because I am passionate about learning. Reading and writing about literature has challenged and impassioned me from a young age, and I get excited about sharing literature with students and listening to them discuss their insights and ideas with each other. I think I’ve known teaching was my vocation since I was very young. Even as a second grader I would put my four younger siblings through “summer school” and assign and grade homemade worksheets.
Why I teach at Pius X
God lead me to Pius X through friends and family members who have been blessed to be members of the Pius community. I knew from the very beginning of my studies in college that I was called to teach English in a setting that allowed me to intertwine my faith with the curriculum. I feel this is especially important in literature courses because our identity as human beings centers on our belief that we are sons and daughters of God. My first year at Pius only reaffirmed my belief that this is exactly where God wants me to be right now.
