Restore brings Pius X community together in prayer

The Pius X Campus Ministry team arranges praise and worship events called Restore. These exhibitions provide Pius X students the experience of hearing fellow students’ testimonies and adoration and confessions in a community setting.

Restore is held the first Wednesday of the month from 7-8pm. The service takes place in the chapel with refreshments in the commons afterward.

“Before the service starts, every person is given the opportunity to light a candle and take it up to the altar and offer it up for a special intention,” Campus Ministry member Abbie Russman said.

“We start off with a student testimony that lasts around 10-15 minutes,” Campus Minister Claire Maly said. “Then exposition, and following that is confessions and prayer teams.”

Seniors Campbell Mandery and Rosie Lang are members of Campus Ministry and leaders of the Restore committee. They work together to find Pius X students willing to give their testimony.

“We try to get students from different friend groups hoping to get more people to come initially and hopefully continue to come every month,” Mandery said.

Senior Ella Hagen gave her testimony for Restore in September.

“It was honestly very therapeutic to share my story with classmates and friends,” Hagen said. “It felt good to share my struggles in hopes that it might help them overcome their own struggles in life.”

After the testimony, adoration begins.

During adoration, certain students lead prayer teams outside the chapel.

“Prayer teams are led by students,” Maly said. “We had six students leading prayer with the other students tonight. They ask what they want to give up to the Lord and what they desire prayers for.”

Restore gives students the option of personal or communal prayer.

“My favorite part about Restore is just being able to provide the opportunity for students to take time out of their week to spend some time with the Lord and give Him all their worries, stresses and anxieties about school,” Russman said.
