Junior interviews help students plan for future

Junior interviews started on Jan. 10 and go until Jan. 25 with scheduling beginning on Jan. 4.

During the interviews, counselors and juniors discuss a variety of things.

“We talk about what classes students should take for senior year, as well as standardized testing like the ACT and the SAT,” counselor Connie Freudenberg said. “We also talk about majors of study for when they go to college and colleges that they’re starting to look at.”

Counselors will help the students start looking for colleges that they may be interested in.

“We suggest that they start doing college visits in the spring, especially if the college is far away so that they can schedule a trip to do a visit,” Freudenberg said.

There are opportunities open to juniors for summer programs and camps.

“Students can volunteer over the summer so that they can update their resume in the fall,” Freudenberg said.

Some students are called down to the counseling center to have their interview during one of their classes.

“I believe that the meeting was super beneficial,” junior Whitney Tomes said. “I learned about different majors, different class opportunities at college, and senior service hours.”
