Girls reserve basketball was back at it again Thursday night at Pius X against Lincoln East.
The Bolts were off to a rocky start at the end of the first quarter with East leading 11-9. The Bolts battled back to close the score gap leading into halftime only trailing by four points.
“The first half was tough, but we went back out there and worked extra hard to try and pull ahead,” sophomore Jenna Hoage said.
Coming into the second half, the Bolts were determined to close the four-point gap and end their season on a high note. With a close battle the entire second half, freshman Madelyn Navrkal closed the gap with 14 seconds left in the game and pulled Pius X ahead by one point.
“I thought it was a really fun game and it was evident that we worked hard for the win,” sophomore Ella Eidson said.
The final score of the game was 44-43 Pius X.
“We put out a good effort not just individually but as a team and it was a great way to end the undefeated season,” sophomore Rachel Downey said.
The girls reserve team concluded their season being undefeated and claimed the unofficial title of city champs.
“It’s cool to see them battle out on the court and know that they had been working hard not only for the past few days but all season to be the best,” team manager Abby Lutjeharms said.
