Student section brings hype to state basketball

The Pius X girls basketball team put on a show leading to a 19-point victory last night against Omaha Benson.

Pius X not only had more points on the board, but also more people in the stands. Having over 15 rows of students in the student section appeared to make a difference for the team.

Junior Ian Mitchell said, “You could really feel the energy from the crowd during the first half of the game. Honestly I was just happy I didn’t have to sit behind the sophomores.”

Mitchell wasn’t the only one thrilled about the student section Thursday night.

Senior Ashlynn Dodd said, “I love the cheers and all the small things the student section does. With personally playing on the court in the past they really bring a great feeling to the players.”

Dodd mentioned the student section is only going to get bigger for tonight’s game.

Pius X plays against Millard North in the semifinals at 8:45 tonight at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
