In this unique episode of We Are Pius, we step inside the classroom for a live Socratic seminar featuring seniors from the Classical Literature program. Rather than a traditional interview, students engage in thoughtful discussion about Homer’s Odyssey and Christopher Nolan’s film adaptation, The Odyssey.

Led by classical literature teacher Mark Hansen, students explore questions about storytelling, heroism, hospitality, leadership, faithfulness, and why a 3,000‑year‑old story continues to resonate today. They compare Nolan’s creative decisions with Homer’s original epic, debate the portrayals of Odysseus and Penelope, and demonstrate the kind of thoughtful dialogue that defines the classroom experience at Pius.
