Stewardship Tuition Model

For decades, Pius X Catholic High School has operated on a simple promise: the cost of a quality Catholic education should not be a barrier for any family.

That promise has a name: the Stewardship Tuition Model. This approach distinguishes between two numbers that matter for every Thunderbolt family:

  • the Cost to Educate, and
  • the Cost to Attend for tithing Catholic families who belong to a parish.

Breakdown of the Model

Cost to Educate — $9,326 per student

Cost to Educate: This is what it actually costs Pius X to educate one student for one year: faculty & staff, facilities, programs, technology, and everything that makes a Thunderbolt education exceptional. This is the full, honest number.

PARISH AND DONOR SUPPORT

Parish Contributions for families active in their parish

Pius X Foundation Support and other sources of revenue

Cost to Attend - $4,250

Cost to Attend: This is what tithing and active Catholic families enrolled in parishes will pay before any scholarships are awarded. It is less than half the Cost to Educate.

How the Model Works

Pius X has always believed that the cost of educating a student is a shared responsibility — shared by the school, the parishes, the diocese, the Foundation, and the family. The only way this Stewardship Tuition Model works is when all contribute generously.

When you enroll a student at Pius X, you are joining a community of stewards, one that has kept Catholic education accessible in Lincoln for generations.

See below to learn how the Cost to Educate is covered.

Parish Contributions

Active parish families receive a substantial subsidy from their parish community (over 1/3 of the cost to educate), reflecting the diocese’s longstanding commitment to Catholic education. This is both a tremendous blessing to families and financial strain on parishes.

Foundation & Other Revenue

The Pius X Foundation, fundraising events and other sources of income bridge a significant portion of the remaining gap.

Student Scholarships

More than 68% of Pius X students receive additional scholarship assistance. Last year alone, over $1.1 million in scholarships and tuition assistance was awarded.

Your Cost to Attend

What remains is your family’s Cost to Attend, and for Catholic families, that’s less than half the actual cost.

Be a Steward Yourself

Every family must consider how they will tithe in their parish, participate in the Fund for Pius X, and invest through other fundraisers. That participation makes the Stewardship Tuition Model sustainable. Without this engagement, the model does not work.

If your family is able, consider a gift to your parish or to Pius X equal to the difference between the Cost to Educate ($9,326) and your Cost to Attend. Every gift of every amount is what makes this model work for the next family. Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
