Several of our students represented Pius X at UNL Math Day last week. Throughout the day, students competed in five rounds of Math Quiz Bowl, narrowly missing a spot in the semifinals during the final round. Representing Pius X were James Kruger, Harden Cederburg, Penny Willis, Kaily Wesley, and Lucas Walker. The team finished with two wins and three close losses.
The day opened with a keynote presentation from Po-Shen Loh, mathematician, professor, and International Math Olympiad coach. He spoke about building communities of people who are “Thought Full”—those who love to think and love humanity—as an essential path for thriving in an AI-driven future. Our students found his talk both engaging and inspiring.
