Science team has impressive showing at state Olympiad

The Pius X Science Team achieved exceptional results at the 2026 Nebraska State Science Olympiad held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Every team member earned at least one medal, resulting in an impressive 100% medal rate and a total of six medals overall.

• 🥈 Tan Pham: 2nd Place (Robot Tour)

• 🥉 Phil Le & Nathan Le: 3rd Place (Bridge)

• 🥇 Harden Cederburg & James Kruger: 1st Place (Fast Facts)

• 🏅 Harden Cederburg: 6th Place (Periodic Table)

The Science Olympiad is a rigorous academic competition that challenges students across a wide range of STEM disciplines. Events include written exams (such as Fast Facts and Periodic Table), engineering challenges (like Bridge), and hands-on, technical events (such as Robot Tour). Students must apply their knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork to succeed in both prepared and on-the-spot tasks. The team sponsor is Thien Chu.

Pius X competed against 27 teams in their division. This achievement reflects not only the talent of our students but also their hard work, teamwork, and passion for science.

With several senior members graduating this year, the Science Club is in need of new members. We warmly invite students who are interested in science, competition and teamwork to join us.

The Science Club meets every Monday after school in Room 2310 (Mrs. Steenson’s classroom). It’s a great opportunity to explore science topics, prepare for competitions, and connect with friends who share similar interests.
