Michael Petruconis ’87 is being inducted into the 2025 Pius X Fine Arts Hall of Fame for Performing Arts.
During his four years at Pius X, Michael was a dedicated member of the marching band and concert bands, playing the French horn and serving as drum major his senior year. He also showcased his musical talents in the jazz band, playing both piano and keyboard bass. Beyond music, Michael was president of the National Honor Society and a member of the golf team.
Michael received his musical training from the University of Nebraska (1992) and the University of Minnesota (1994). Before moving to Minneapolis, Mike served for three seasons as fourth horn in the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the 43rd Army Band. He is now an active freelance artist in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Formerly a member of the 451st Army Band and third horn with the Minnesota Opera, he now performs frequently with the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Mike has served as faculty member at many area universities and colleges, including Bethel University, Augsburg University, University of Wisconsin–River Falls, and St. Olaf College. This fall Mike will be serving under a one-year contract as third horn with the Minnesota Orchestra. Mike and his wife Laurie have four children and two grandchildren. They reside in Little Canada, Minnesota.
