Maddie Simon ’15 is being inducted into the 2025 Pius X Hall of Fame.

Simon’s outstanding athletic career across multiple sports showcases her talent, leadership, and contributions to Pius X athletics. Maddie credits her family, teammates, and coaches as the key pillars of her success, acknowledging that their unwavering support and guidance were instrumental in her accomplishments. 

As a four-time letter winner in basketball, Maddie was a part of the 2015 Class B State Championship team. Her other accolades include: 2015 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year, Two-Time First-Team Super-State (2014, 2015), Two-Time First-Team All-Nebraska (2014, 2015). Two-Time First-Team Nebraska Class B (2014, 2015). Second-Team Nebraska Class A (2013). Maddie was a member of the 2014 Class B State runner-up team as well. 

In track, Maddie excelled as a four-time letter winner. She captured gold medals in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles at the 2015 State Track and Field Championships. She was the Class A runner-up in both events as a junior in 2014. She also finished third in the 100H while adding a runner-up finish in the 300H in 2013. She was also a member of Pius X’s All-Class gold medal-winning 4×400 relay in 2013.

Maddie’s versatility was further demonstrated in golf, where she earned three letters and qualified for the state tournament in 2013. 

Maddie played college basketball at the University of Nebraska. She was a part of the 2018 NCAA Tournament team. In 2018, Simon was one of the Big Ten’s most improved players.

A standout off the court, Simon was a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection and earned Nebraska’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2019. Maddie was a communication studies major who earned her bachelor’s degree from Nebraska in May of 2019. She also earned a prestigious Nebraska Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award in 2017. Maddie went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Sport and Hospitality Management from the University of Memphis in 2021.
