As the freshmen’s first unit in English class ends, students are creating final projects that symbolize the dramatic Shakespearean play they read, “Romeo and Juliet.”
Students have a lot of fun with these projects, and they get to be creative and express themselves in different art forms. Some include baking, research, crafting and more.
“The students I think overall really enjoy being able to do a project, to showcase their skills,” English I teacher Jennifer Sander said. “It gives every student a chance to showcase what they’re good at.”
Freshmen get creative with these projects, and they spend a lot of time perfecting them. Freshman Sophia Sieck spent many hours working on her final project, which was a newspaper.
“It took me about four hours,” Sieck said. “I enjoyed it a lot, I love writing and it was very fun to be able to express myself through my writings.”
Other students, such as freshman Kayla Jones, did baking projects. There were also the choices to make movies, do research presentations, and build a model of the Globe Theater.
“My project was fun to do, it took me two hours, and I made chocolate cake,” Jones said.
Overall, final projects are a fun way for students to express themselves while still learning more about their semester play, “Romeo and Juliet.”
