A Breakfast needs to include:
- A grain (pop tart, muffin, granola bar, cereal) or hot entrée item (breakfast sandwich, pizza, smoothie, parfait) or Meat/Meat Alternative option provided.
- A fruit or apple/orange juice
- Option of milk
There are a variety of all these items provided each morning from 7am-10am.
A Lunch needs to include:
- An entrée: Entrees will include a Meat/Meat Alternative and a Grain. These can be hot off the line, a cold sandwich or entrée salad from the cooler.
- A vegetable and/or a fruit: options are hot vegetables from the line, fresh, cupped canned fruit, juice, or frozen juice cups.
There needs to be at least one fruit or vegetable with each meal. - A milk: Milk is optional if the student already has 3 items from those mentioned.
Things to be aware of…
- Not all food items are free to students.
- A la Carte items; 2nd Entrees, Bottled Beverages, Smoothies, Chips, Granola Bars, Rice Krispie Bars, Fruit Snacks and Roll ups, Desserts/Cookies, Uncrustable PBJs, and other grab and go snacks are all an extra charge to your student’s accounts.
Limit on condiments
The USDA has a limit on the amount of sodium allowed for each meal. That limitation limits how many condiments can be served. 2 condiments per meal is allowed.
Negative Balances
Please watch your lunch account balances. If you are negative you will be allowed a complete meal as stated above but not any 2nd entrées or extras like bottled drinks, chips, desserts.
