Competitive Speech

Speech Team is a place where students learn to use their voices with purpose.

Rooted in our Catholic faith, students bring stories to life, explore powerful ideas, and craft original messages while developing confidence, critical thinking, and ethical communication. Speech Team encourages students to speak with integrity, empathy, and courage—on stage and beyond. The Pius X Catholic High School Speech Team is coached by Tommy Bender (tommy-bender@cdolinc.net) and is assisted by Kathryn Nelson (kathryn-nelson@cdolinc.net). Speech is an NSAA sanctioned event; Pius X attends and participates in NSAA Districts and NSAA state competitions. Past competitors have also attended and competed in the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) and the National Speech and Debate Association’s National Tournament (NSDA).
