School(s) attended K-8: St. Mary’s Catholic School: Pre-school – 6th Grade, North American Martyrs: 7th-8th Grade
Favorite place on campus: I loved spending time in the music room and LPAC. It’s where I made the most memories playing music, rehearsing for show choir, and performing for theater.
Activities at Pius X: I participated in Pius X Speech & Debate, Pius Track & Field, Pius X Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Pius X Show Choir/Show Band, National Honor Society, Writing Resource Center, AcaFellas, Jazz Band, and Pius Players.
What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why? My favorite classes have been Accelerated Physics, PACE AP Physics, and AP Calculus. They are incredibly difficult classes, but they have challenged me in many ways. The subject matter is tough but rewarding, and Mr. Scheffler is a phenomenal teacher. The projects required for PACE and Accelerated Physics were some of the most fun I had doing a school project. These classes are the ones that inspired me to go into engineering, and I recommend them to students looking for a challenge!
How has your faith journey evolved during your time at our school? Are there particular experiences or programs that have significantly impacted your spiritual growth? I first attended Restore my sophomore year, and it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. It was so emotionally raw and opened my heart to the Lord. Additionally, retreats and conferences like TEC and SEEK were amazing for diving deeper into my faith. Being surrounded by other Catholics who were on fire for their faith was so inspiring to see.
What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X? I’m most proud of my personal growth. I walked into high school with so many unknowns, but through the grace of God and the community Pius X offers, I can confidently say I’m a much better person in Christ because of it.
Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study? I plan to attend Iowa State University and major in aerospace engineering. I also hope to study with a minor in business and management.
