Connie Freudenberg is in her 14th year at Pius X High School. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Chadron State College. (Although some students are hesitant to believe this, Chadron is in the state of Nebraska.) Her first teaching position was on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation at a Jesuit-Catholic school ~ Red

New hires for school and foundation
Tessa Contreras is from Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in St. Joseph Parish and is now a parishioner at St. Teresa’s. She graduated from Pius X High School in 2010. She holds a bachelor degree in Psychology and also studied Philosophy and Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Tessa
Choirs open season with fall concert
The Pius X choir department held their fall concert at North American Martyrs church on Oct. 6. This concert’s theme was “Love conquers all” and included songs like “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us,” “Viva L’Amor” and “He Never Failed Me Yet.” Six of the choir groups performed: AcaBellas, AcaFellas, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir,
Auditions for Christmas one-act

Baking club pops into new school year
The baking club had their first meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The club made cake pops and members had the choice of making red velvet, vanilla, funfetti or devil’s food cake pops. Passport club meal/meeting to feature Chinese food
The Passport to Adventure Club celebrates the world through authentic cuisines served in Lincoln. We meet the first Thursday of each month at a different restaurant. Rolling Thunder marching band prepares for state contest
The Pius X Rolling Thunder marching band placed highly at their last two competitions leading up to their state competition. On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Rolling Thunder played at the Links marching contest, where they competed against other schools both in and outside of their division. “We earned a division one superior rating at Links,”
