Favorite place on campus: My favorite place on campus has to be the music room. It’s where I found my people, my home—it’s kind of where I found myself. I am eternally grateful for my music teachers (Mr. Wilhelm, Mr. Kosch, Mr. Krier, Mr. Estrada, among others) for believing in me and giving me the resources to thrive, and for all the friends I have made through making music.
Activities at Pius X: Marching Band (drum major), Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Sotto Voce, aCaFellas, Spectrum Show Choir (dance captain), Chroma Show Band, National Honor Society, Pius Players
What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why? Sotto Voce. This class really challenged me to integrate my faith and personal experiences into my music making, which has changed how I approach music forever.
How has your faith journey evolved during your time at our school? Are there particular experiences or programs that have significantly impacted your spiritual growth? Throughout these 4 years, the choir program and opportunities from the program have impacted my faith significantly. Whether it be journaling during class, leading praise and worship, singing at Masses, or just being surrounded by such faith-filled people, the choir department has been instrumental in my spiritual growth.
What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X? I am most proud of balancing my extracurriculars with my school work. I would often be at Pius until 9PM every day of the week, so it definitely was a challenge, but through dedication (and a lack of sleep) I managed to make it through.
Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study? I plan to go to UNL with a major in data science and a minor in music. I am also returning to Pius as the accompanist for the show choir program.
