Parents: Scott and Lisa Oorlog
School(s) attended K-8: St. Michael’s
Favorite place on campus: The lpac because it is such a fun environment to be in with your friends. I ate lunch in the lobby everyday and enjoyed talking with people I didn’t see much during the day.
Activities at Pius X: Girls Golf, Spectrum Show Choir, Student Council, Pius Players, Writing Resource Center, National Honors Society, AcaBellas, Spanish Club, and Freshman Encounter group leader
What is/was your favorite class at Pius X, and why? Anatomy and Physiology: It was so interesting to learn about all the parts and functions of the body. We had learned the basics in other classes but going more in depth was really cool. This class truly showed me the divine design of God in creating life. Every different form has a designed function that works in harmony with the structures around it. It was really fun to see how everything works so neatly together.
How has your faith journey evolved during your time at our school? Are there particular experiences or programs that have significantly impacted your spiritual growth? I have most definitely grown in my faith throughout my time at Pius. Through various retreats, visiting the chapel, and going to Restore I have been able to encounter Christ more than ever before. High school has helped me take more ownership of my faith and prepared me for college in that way. My most impactful experience was the Steubenville Youth Conference last summer. It was amazing to see so many young people all uniting to grow closer to God together.
What are you most proud of about your time at Pius X? I am most proud of all the connections that I have been able to make at Pius. Being involved in so many activities has allowed me to meet and get to know so many different kinds of people and it has been such a fun experience.
Where are your plans after high school (college, military, job, etc.)? What do you plan to study? I will be attending the University of Nebraska Omaha to major in Molecular and Biomedical Biology. I plan to one day become a biomedical engineer.
