Post-Graduation Planning
The work you do in high school to prepare for life after graduation is critical and often necessary. Your school counselor is ready to help you each step along the way, and we have developed this webpage as a go-to spot for the many online resources available to help you keep track of your journey.
Check out the requirements for graduation from Pius X High School. Work with your school counselor to make a plan to meet the requirements and to take courses that are needed for college.
Sign into SchooLinks regularly for important events, to discover colleges, scholarship opportunities, the ACT/SAT testing dates, career information information on college visits!
Students will apply to college via the college website or by using the Common Application. Approximately 20 seniors will use the Common Application so ask your counselor BEFORE you use the Common App to confirm that is the best option for you. There is added work when using the Common App and generally not needed for most students. SchooLinks will be used to send transcript, letters of recommendation and counselor items, so each college you are applying to will need to be added to your SchooLinks account. Instructions can be found in your Canvas class titled “Seniors”.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
EducationQuest – This nonprofit organization allows students and families to learn more about financial aid, scholarships for students attending college in Nebraska, and the process of visiting and applying for college. Their office is at 1300 O Street, Lincoln, NE. Phone number is 402.475.5222. You may make an appointment to discuss colleges, scholarships and financial aid.
ACT / SAT Information
Juniors and seniors are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT. Juniors planning to attend college should consider beginning the testing process during their junior year. For most students, there is no need to take both tests. Most students do better on the ACT. Students should apply at www.actstudent.org (ACT) or www.collegeboard.com (SAT). The Pius X High School code number is 281-315.
