Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School

A heartfelt thanks … to you!

November is an eventful month and I have to be honest … for much of it, I spend a lot of time thinking about food. I discuss plans with my family, talk about menus, buy and stock up, bake and freeze and, finally, eat and sleep. With all of the hustle and bustle, who has time to be thankful? Over the years I have found the busyness of everyday life makes me forget to say thank you to the people around me. I know, for a counselor, that might come as a shock. However, thanking people for who they are and for what they do IS the right thing to do. In I Thessalonians 5:18, we are told to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Jesus”. So, here we go … my heartfelt thank you to you.

Dear Pius X Families, Students and Staff,

I first walked through the doors of Pius X fourteen years ago as a parent. I will never forget the excitement and pride I felt from this community. After our first Back to School night, my husband and I talked about how genuine the teachers were and how we looked forward to working with them. Three years later I became a staff member and had a strong desire to help parents feel the same way I did about Pius X. After eleven years I realize I am still in love with this school and its community. I am so thankful for you sharing your children and allowing us to work together in making them sons and daughters of Christ. At times, it can be a difficult and exhausting job, but I couldn’t think of better people with whom to work. Thank you for the endless hours of volunteering you do sharing your time and talents, for the generous donations you pledge and for your countless prayers. Please know you are in my prayers, as well.

Thank you for the time you spend assisting our school. Thank you for being a friend to those who need it. I have witnessed and will be forever thankful for your support, kindness and love. I hope you are all able to take a moment to sit still in the beauty of God’s goodness and mercy to reflect on the things for which you are thankful. One of the things I have to remind myself of is even in times of hardship, God is with me and carrying me through the mess.

May the grace of the Lord be with you all.

Thank you,
Shelly Pick
