Pius X held its annual Scholarship Social for its seniors on Thursday, Dec. 1.

“The Counseling Center held this year’s scholarship social and encouraged all seniors to come down during an open period to look or apply for scholarships,” counselor Connie Freudenberg said.

The social was held all day and was open to all seniors who wanted to attend.

The social is held in December because it’s the beginning of college scholarship season when more and more scholarships start to become available.

It was held downstairs in the Blessed Mother Teresa Room.

The event was organized by the Counseling Center and is an annual event, this being the seventh time it was held.

“I thought it was very helpful,” senior Mary Thompson said. “I didn’t realize how many scholarships were available, it was really eye opening and good to see all of my available options.”

Along with a quiet workplace and counselor help, there was also hot chocolate, candy, and Christmas music to add to the environment.

Thompson stated how much she enjoyed the event and how the hot chocolate with Christmas music was great. She wasn’t the only one to enjoy the event.

Senior Sophie Timmerman said, “I enjoyed it, it was a fun experience doing something that normally is not very enjoyable.”
